Mr Ben Scharfstein

Sea Or: SeaOr Marine Enterprises Ltd. is an Israeli privately owned company involved with developing and operating land based aquaculture systems since 1994. SeaOr’s main production is of abalone (a luxury marine snail), fish and seaweed. The company’s main production facility of 27 acres is based along the Mediterranean coast, and has been commercially operating since the beginning of 2002. Investments to date in intensive R&D and production facilities exceed $ 2.5 million, and future revenues are foreseen to reach over $ 15 million. SeaOr Marine has an on-shore mariculture production unit where it produces different types of fish together with abalone. They have installed an experimental facility for growing clams, microalgae, brine shrimps and different species of fish. At the end of the experimental phase, SeaOr Marine anticipate investing in a new production unit to produce these species on an industrial scale. Within 4 years after the end of the project an annual revenue of about 10 M Euro is expected.
