Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research, Eilat, Israel. The National Center for Mariculture (NCM) is a branch of the Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research (IOLR) that belongs to the Ministry of National Infrastructures. The NCM facility in Eilat, Israel, is internationally known as a leading research institute in the area of marine aquaculture. It is well equipped to conduct research and development on the culture of commercially valuable finfish, bivalves, gastropods and seaweed species in single and polyculture systems. NCM laboratories are well equipped with the expertise to carry out all the analytical work in the proposed research. The NCM employs over 70 scientists, technicians, students and support staff and consists of a complex of buildings containing grow-out facilities for all stages of fish and invertebrate culture utilizing 300 m3/hr of clean, filtered seawater. There are research laboratories for water chemistry, algal culture, physiology, radioactive studies, optical and electron microscopy, fish and mollusk and echinoderm nutrition, reproduction and pathology.
